Club Championship Tournament: 7 p.m. on March 10, 17, 24, 31 - four round
Swiss, G/80, d/5 (same time control as ladder games.) Club membership
required; USCF rated (must be USCF member to play); no entry fee; one half
point bye available in round three or four if requested at registration; a zero point
bye available any round if requested by 3 p.m. the day of that round
(No ladder games on these dates, but skittles/casual
games can be played by those who don’t want to be in the tournament.
annul Meeting: 6:45 p.m.on April 14.Subjects include election of officers and
finalizing the Club schedule for remainder of 2022. Members’ input welcome.
Tentative schedule is as follows: 5/19: G/10, d/3 (USCF rated); 6/16: G/25
quads, d/3 (USCF rated); 7/14: G/15, d/3 (USCF rated); 9/8: Blitz G/5, d/0

only type of club event with a charge not covered by the annual dues.
The fee goes to the grandmaster.
Normal ladder play - almost all remaining nights with one G/80;d5 ladder
game per night - the club ladder is maintained similar to hockey standings.
Following the fall Swiss the ladder season begins with every player earning
One point is awarded for a win, 1/2 for a draw
and zero for a loss. The ladder is sorted in descending order by total
points scored for the season.
Each ladder night people sign up by 6:45 PM
to play on the ladder, the games are paired and play starts at 7:00PM. The
pairings are done with number one on the ladder playing number two, three
playing four, etc. except that you play at least two different opponents before
being paired again with a person. Any junior
(under 18) that is paired has the option of changing the normal G/80;d5
time control to G/60;d5. Players draw for colors every game. Many players
do off-hand play after their serious ladder game is over.
The Saint Charles Club provides many of the directors for scholastic
tournaments in the Chicago metropolitan area.
